Guest-Only I can see

Guest- Only I can see

Today I have a guest.
Unknown guests.
They said they know me well.
They said they are here to stay,
To stay with me for long.
I was confused, but still,
I welcomed them in.

They told me their names are
Anxiety and Depression.
They even brought me gifts
Gifts of deep sorrows.

Still, I welcomed them in,
Serving them, great overthinking
On plates with delusions on top.
I was enjoying their company.

People asked me whom I was talking to.
I said, “I have guests today.”
People looked around me and asked,
“Where?”
I kept my silence.
I saw them talking to me,
But no one else could see them.

They think I’m crazy,
But I am physically fine.
Mentally…
I am serving my guests well
Guests that only I can see.

Some time later,
Another guest appeared.
Anxiety and Depression said,
“That’s our friend, Suicide.
We are best friends.
We cannot be separated;
Till death.”

Author’s Note:  “Welcoming guests is usually a kind gesture, but some guests should never be invited. Guests like Anxiety and depression come uninvited, heavy and hard to carry. This poem shows the hidden struggle of living with them.”
